Winter Skincare Routine

Ah, wintertime, the time for snow, a warm cup of cocoa but also harsh winds that can irritate your skin. I don’t have super dry skin but this year my skin definitely felt the change in the weather. Even with the gentlest exfoliant and my skin went crazy. In this post, I will tell my winter skincare routine for dry skin and what product helped my dry irritated skin.

What is Dry Skin?

But first what is dry skin? Dry skin can be caused by many factors. It could be genetics, irritation, and even caused by your environment. However, the condition of your skin gets worst in winter because of the cold dry air in winter.

Does winter make your skin dry?

Do you ever wonder why do you get dry skin in winter? In sort, yes. Winter does make the skin drier. The cold dry air in the winter dries out your skin. The dry air carries less moisture, which dries out your skin.  With the combination of dry air and hot showers that you are probably taking, your skin is stripped of moisture, causing it to feel and look dry.

Best Winter Skincare Products – Winter skincare routine for Dry Skin

The best products to use during winter are products that are super hydrating yet nourishing. You want products that replenish all the nourishment you lost while sealing it all in. You would also want to help calm your skin as well. The harsh wind from winter can really irritate your skin. By using products to help soothe your skin, your skin will thank you.

Hydrating Products

Logically, Skin Aquatide Surface $20 – I recently tried out this serum and it is super hydrating. It does have a lavender scent but it’s not super noticeable. As for the anti-aging effect, I can’t really tell any difference.

I’m from Fig Essence $30 – One of my go-to essences when my skin is any way feeling a bit dry and lacking in nutrients. It is always super hydrating and nourishing. One of my HG. Highly recommend, for anyone who has dry skin. I highly recommend trying out I’m from toners, you can read which toner is right for you here.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Soothing Moisturizer $29 – Honestly, I didn’t like The La Roche Posay Tolerane Moisturizer at first. I didn’t notice any difference until my skin was super irritated and over exfoliated that I came to like this product. It did not irritate my super angry skin, and instead, it hydrated it without further irritation.

La Roche Posay Lipikar AP + Baume $28 – Since I am quite prone to eczema, I always have the La Roche Posay AP+ Baume on hand. La Roche Posay Lipikar is one of my favorite creams to combat eczema and dry hands. Must try, if you are prone to eczema.

Calming Products

Ultru I’m Sorry For My Skin Jelly Mask $2 ea I know the name is a bit laughable but this is a godsend. Probably my new favorite mask. When my skin was super angry, I’m sorry for my skin mask helped soothe, calm, and hydrate my skin. Plus the mask has a surplus of the essence. I haven’t tried the other masks in the line by the relaxing one is a must-try.

Cicplast Gel B5 $20 – If you don’t have this in your life, you should get some. I’m not kidding. When anything and everything that you apply to your face hurts, this really helps soothe your skin. It’s a plus that it does not irritate my fungal acne.

Klaris Midnight Blue Calming Cream $30 – if your irritated and angry skin is causing you acne, my favorite pimple preventer cream (aka Klairs midnight blue calming cream) is something to definitely try out. It helps calm the pimple, so it is less irritated, therefore less scarring. Read my full review of the Pimple Preventer here

Conclusion: Winter skincare routine dry skin

I hope with these tips and recommendations your skin won’t be irritated or dry this winter. As long as you are using hydrating and calming products, winter will be a breeze! If I had to choose one product from this list, it would be the I’m Sorry For My Skin Jelly Mask. Although, I love everything on this list. The Jelly mask was something that really soothed my irritated winter skin.
