Fungal Acne Ingredients To Avoid

Fungal acne can be tricky to deal with. Especially since fungal acne can be triggered by certain ingredients. In this post, we will go over which ingredients to avoid but also which products to avoid as well.

In general, you want to avoid these ingredients:

  • Fatty Acids
  • Esters
  • Lipids

You typically want to avoid these ingredients since fungal acne feeds on these ingredients. The more food is available for fungal acne, the more likely your skin looks bumpy.

General Products To Avoid

Oils

You probably want to stay away from the majority of the oils. If you really want to use an oil, the only oil you can probably use is squalane. Make sure you are using the right one and not get squalene. Looks similar but they are nothing alike.

I know some people love their oils. For me, I just never noticed any difference after using it. Since fungal acne loves oils, I just get pimples whenever I use them. It is up to you but for me, it is not worth using oils.

Make sure you check the ingredients, some products aren’t oils and still contain oils in their ingredient list ie moisturizers.

Oil cleansers

This might be okay. But, it really depends on how well the product emulsifies and cleanses off. Sometimes some oil cleansers don’t emulsify well and just stay on your skin. Which means more food for fungal acne to eat.

Heavier Products

Typically any products that are made for dry skin types are not fungal acne safe. Your best bet to find fungal acne-safe products that are lighter in texture.  If you can’t find anything that is hydrating enough, I would recommend an ion device.
