Ezn Shaking Pudding Sandy Ash

I don’t know why but I have been itching to dye my hair darker for the winter. I was really debating about dyeing my hair black. But let’s be honest. Most black hair dyes just look really stark and unnatural.  While I was deciding which hair dye to buy in the grocery store, I stumbled upon new selections of color from the brand Ezn Shaking Pudding. I tried the brand Ezn Shaking Pudding hair dye before, I reviewed it a while ago, you can read my post {here}. The color I grabbed was Sandy Ash, which was lighter than I was hoping for. BUT I do love ashy shades, so I decided to try it out anyways.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Ezn Shaking Pudding is from the brand Holika Holika. They have a wide range of colour ranging from normal colors like chocolate brown to unique ones like ash pink. Although they do have some vibrant colors they do not use ammonia. Their main ingredients are camellia oil, olive oil, avocado oil, chamomile, aloe vera extract, and sage extract.

When I bought the shade Sandy Ash,  I thought it would be a great ashy brown shade to try out. As time passed and had more time to research I realized this shade wasn’t brown at all, it was BLONDE.

I am usually hesitant about dying my hair lighter since most blonde hair doesn’t suit most Asians.  Those that can pull it off are usually pretty, and quite pale.

Although, I’m sure I am not pretty or pale enough to pull off blonde hair I decided to try out the hair dye anyways. Plus my hair is quite dark, so the final color might end up a little darker.

What is inside the box

Just like the Ezn Shaking Pudding  I used for Ash Khaki, everything was pretty much the same.  You get two compartments, one part that holds the colourant, developer and a mixing container, while the other part holds the latex gloves, ear caps, plastic cape and Ezn pudding salon bonding hair pack. The only difference that I noticed was the treatment they used, probably because they updated their formula.

Like I mentioned before, don’t bother with the ear caps or the cape. Both are kind of pointless. The ear caps would come off while you are dying your hair, while the cape’s opening for the head is way too big, making it a bit useless.

The before

My hair was pretty dark, with some roots. I haven’t dyed it in a while, and the last color I dyed it was the Prettia British Ash {you can read my post here}.  p.s. I quite like this colour, it is a great color and faded great.

Sorry lol, I kinda look dead without makeup

After,

I left the hair dye a little longer than the recommended time, instead of the 20-30min I left it for 40-50min. Beware, if you have longer hair than me, you probably need to buy two boxes, I barely had enough.

While I was rinsing the dye out of my hair, my hair felt really tangly and dry. However, after applying the treatment and my Ouai hair oil it was almost back to normal. It was a little dry but it is to be expected after you dye your hair.

You can see the picture below, that after the first rinse, my hair was a little more orange than I wanted. It looked like their was still a little bit of color left in my hair.  Sorry if my hair looked a bit gross, I had to resist washing my hair to make sure the color lasted longer.

The picture below is when I rinsed my hair a second time. You can see that there was less orange in my hair but I did use a blue tint to help calm the orange down. The tint I used was the 3CE Hair Tint in Natural Ash. I don’t think the tint altered the color much because before I dyed my hair I tried using this tint to tone the orange. Yet there was still orange in my hair.

Overall, the hair dye gave a nice even color. I did like the color in the end.  It didn’t make my hair blonde like I was anticipating, which is a plus. The hair dye made my hair a lighter shade of brown with a bit of ashiness. If you do decide to use this hair dye, I recommend you skip the ear caps, the cape thing and make sure you use a blue shampoo or a tint to help calm down the orange.
