best affordable vitamin c review

Affordable Vitamin C

I like to try Vitamin C serums and I think I tried a fair number of Vitamin C serums. The main purpose of vitamin c is to brighten your skin but also help combat free radicals ( aka slow down skin aging). In this post, I will review some affordable vitamin c serums I have tried out and which one I recommend.

The Vitamin C Serums That I Will Be Testing/ Reviewing

  • Some By Mi Yuja Niacin
  • Melano CC vitamin Essence
  • By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5%
  • Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C
  • Timeless Vitamin C + E Serum
  • Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop
  • Neogen Vit C Serum
  • The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Acid Powder
  • Tia’m My Signature Red C Serum
  • L’oreal Paris Revitalift 10% Pure Vitamin C Concentrate

Review: Some By Mi Yuja Niacin 30 Days Blemish Care Serum $19

The Some By Mi Yuja Serum is a super gentle vitamin c serum, probably the most gentle vitamin c I have tried. If you have seen the before and after pictures on the Some By Mi product photos, you probably would have expected crazy amazing results as I did. I have freckles and the lady on the ad also has freckles too and seems like after using their serum all their freckles disappeared.

Needless to say, that didn’t really happen. I think my overall complexion did get brighter but my freckles did not fade at all. But then again, I always had freckles since high school so it makes sense it doesn’t disappear right away. But if you were hoping for your freckles to disappear don’t get your hopes too high.

Do I recommend it?  Yes, but I won’t be repurchasing again. It is gentle, and brightens the skin but don’t think all your hyperpigmentation will immediately disappear after using this.

Review: Melano CC Vitamin C Essence $15

The Melano Vitamin C serum is a highly raved Vitamin C serum in the Reddit community. I quite like it but it is a tad oily. I found it super effective when I applied it immediately after washing my face.

I think it is a great affordable option but if you want to apply the serum in a large area, you might want to choose a different serum. It takes forever to squeeze the product out. If you did manage to squeeze it out, you have to be careful where you apply it since it feels quite heavy.

Do I recommend it? Yes! I would repurchase again. Rather than using the Melano cc vitamin essence for a large area on the face, I would probably only use it on a targeted spot.

Review: By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced serum $23

I like Wishtrend’s products but the Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Serum wasn’t my favorite product. This one is probably the highest percentage of vitamin c, but I didn’t see a big difference after using it. I do like the texture, it is super watery and absorbs right away but you really have to use up this product right as soon as you open it.

I tried applying this every day and night and it still managed to turn yellow before I finished using it. It might be a good idea to stick this in the fridge to keep it from oxidizing. I probably won’t be buying it again, since it oxidized so fast.

Do I recommend it? No. It just oxidizes way too fast for me. I use way too many products at the same time to use this product up. If you use one product at a time, it might work better for you.

Review: Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Serum

The Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Serum was one of those vitamin c that I was super excited to try out. I thought the fact that it used green tangerines would make it more effective. Sadly, I didn’t really notice a big difference when I used it. However, it was super gentle and would be great for sensitive skin.

Do I recommend it? Maybe. Personally, I didn’t really see any difference even after finishing the whole bottle of Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Serum. However, I did hear many good things about it. I think it would work best for anyone who has sensitive or irritated skin.

Review: Timeless Vitamin C + E Serum $35

The Timeless Vitamin C + E Serum is another classic Vitamin C that many rave and love. I like that the package is in an airtight package so the formulation does not oxidize as fast. The texture is quite nice too, it feels like water that absorbs quickly into the skin. However, if you are sensitive to smell, it doesn’t smell the nicest. It kind of smells like hot dogs. For me, I didn’t really see much difference, so I might skip this one.

Do I recommend it? No. I didn’t really see a difference. Although it has great packaging I just didn’t see any difference to justify the cost.

Review: Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum $23

I love the Klairs Vitamin C Serum. It is super gentle and very stable. The serum is a bit oiler compared to other vitamin c serums however unlike other vitamin serums this vitamin C does not oxidize and turn yellow. If you have really sensitive skin and if vitamin c usually irritates your skin this is a great option.

Do I recommend it? Yes. I still highly recommend this vitamin c serum. I find it super effective and the formulation is super stable. I also find it super gentle. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has sensitive skin and wants a vitamin c serum.

Review: Neogen Real Vita C Serum $24

After using the Neogen Real Vita C Serum for a while I didn’t see a major difference. However, it is super gentle, non-irritating, and best of all fungal acne safe. It is one of the few vitamin c serums that are fungal acne safe. Although I didn’t see a big difference, I might consider repurchasing this since it is fungal acne-safe and non-irritating.

Do I recommend it? Maybe. As I mentioned before, I haven’t seen a big difference yet. The main reason why I like it is that it is gentle and fungal acne safe. If I do see a difference I will probably rebuy it.

Review: The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Acid Powder

I reviewed the Ordinary Vitamin C Powder before {here} and I quite liked it. It is super affordable and it brightened my skin a bit. I like that it is in powder form, in that way you get the most potent vitamin c. However, this product can be very irritating. If you don’t mind the extra effort to mix this into your cream this could be a good option.

Do I recommend it? Yes, but there are better formulations. Don’t get me wrong, I do like this powder. I like the fact you can add it to any moisturizer without worrying if it oxidized or not. The only thing I worry about is how irritating it could be on the skin.

Review: Tia’m My Signature Red C Serum $20

Although I discovered the Tia’m My Signature Red C Serum later in the year, I think it jumped to the number one spot for my favorite vitamin c. I find it super effective for brightening your skin. However, it is super irritating and smells a bit like canned tuna. The smell isn’t that bad, the smell dissipates after 10 seconds. It is definitely worth checking out if your skin is not super sensitive.

Do I recommend it? Yes! It is so effective and affordable, definitely worth checking out! Just beware of the smell and the irritation.

Review: L’oreal Paris Revitalift 10% Pure Vitamin C Concentrate

The L’oreal Pairs Revitalift Vitamin C Concentrate came out of nowhere and surpass all my expectations for it. Unlike most vitamin c serum this vitamin was in a cream format. Despite it being in cream format, I find it super effective. Additionally, it is non-irritating and has great packaging. I would highly recommend trying out this vitamin c.

Do I recommend it? Yes! I would recommend this vitamin c to anyone. Super effective and non-irritating.

Bonus: Tia’m Vita B3 Source Serum

Although the Tia’m Vita B3 Serum isn’t technically a vitamin c, I really liked the serum. Not only did it brightened my skin, but I also found that I had less acne when I used it. Although it did not brighten my skin as much as a normal vitamin c, it did a really decent job.

If dull skin is not your only skin concern, you might want to try the Tia’m Vita B3 Serum.

Do I recommend it? Yes, it is an all-in-one serum! It brightens, shrinks your pores and your even skin tone. I find it really helpful when I have acne/acne scars.

Which Vitamin C is the Best?

It is hard to recommend one vitamin c. I just love so many of them! I would highly recommend trying the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. While I would recommend the Loreal Paris Vitamin C Concentrate for anyone. It is so gentle yet effective and affordable. However, if your skin is more resilient I would recommend you try out the Tia’m Red C Serum.
