Initially, I was only going to review the Mandom Barrier Repair Smooth mask but I decided I HAD to buy the Mandom Barrier Repair Moist version as well. No, it wasn’t my mask addiction telling me to buy another mask, but it was close. I just couldn’t write the review because I felt it wasn’t complete without the most popular mask from the brand Mandom Barrier Repair.

Usually, when I go to my local grocery store the moist version would always be sold out. So, I thought it wouldn’t be a review if I didn’t review the most popular Mandom Barrier Repair mask. Since each mask from this line has a different amount of serum, which could mean the results from the mask might vary widely. This is why I was late with this week’s mask review. Not that anyone has noticed lol.  Plus with my new job and a new dog, I am a bit stressed. Anyways let’s get back to the review of the Mandom Barrier Repair review lol.

Mandom Barrier Repair masks currently has 3 formulas: Smooth, Enrich and Moist.

Although they all come from the same line, the amount of serum in each packet vary. Moist contains the most with 27ml, Enriched with the second most with 25ml and Smooth with the least with 22ml.

What is so special about these masks?

Apparently, these face masks will fit to the natural contours of the face. Instead of designing their face mask based on a picture, they went the extra mile and use a real human face! You can see that they put a lot of thought into their design. They have a split in the middle of the mask where you can adjust the size of the mask.

They also claim that the serum penetrates deeper into the skin than the mask they tested (not really sure which masks they compared it to). If this is true, then more active ingredients will be delivered to the skin.

What I thought

I was quite impressed with the design of the mask, I loved that you are able to adjust the size of the mask so it could fit a vast amount of face shapes.  Although it doesn’t look as clean as other masks when you wear it, I think it should be forgiven especially if it fits perfectly.

Although I do like the design of the mask, there is one thing that bothered me. It isn’t a big deal but before you wear the mask, you got to “unhinge” the eye hole. Kind of sound strange but the eye hole was connected, but to expose the hole you have to search for the hole and poke it before you wear it.

You might think they might have skimped on the quality of the mask since they did a great job on the design on the mask. However, the quality of the mask was not ignored. It wasn’t particularly thin, nor does it stretch out of shape like some masks.

On a side note, while I was trying to dry the mask out with a hairdryer for the picture above, the mask remained moist even with intense heat and winds. It remained pretty moist for a pretty long time. I kinda of gave up, and just took the picture. Not sure if this means anything.

The difference between Smooth and Moist Mask

I had very high expectations for this mask since both my sister and my mom was raving about this mask. After trying both the Barrier Repair Smooth and Moist formulas I don’t think I saw a massive difference between the two masks. The Barrier Repair Moist version had a tad more serum and a tad more moisturizing. The smoothing version was moisturizing but not as moisturizing as the Moist formula. Sadly, I don’t think the smooth version helped reduce the size of my pores much.

Conclusion

The Barrier Repair masks are decent masks, they have a great design and are quite moisturizing. They make your face feel a bit softer and moisturized. If your face is rather dry or dehydrated, I think this mask would great to try out. It might not be the most moisturizing mask on the market but I think it is decent. I don’t really have severely dry skin but it helped with my combo dry skin.
