Love More Wine Yeast Whitening Mask Sheet wine yeast mask

If you love skincare like me, you probably heard of the cult favorite SKII Facial Treatment Mask. Although both masks contain wine yeast, the mask Love More Wine Yeast Whitening Sheet Mask does not have a huge following like SKII. I have tried the SKII mask before and I wanted to try out this wine yeast mask to see if it gave similar results.

You probably would never expect in a million years that the magical ingredient in SKII would be something so ordinary like wine yeast.   This secret ingredient was discovered by a scientist unexpectedly. He noticed that the hands of the seniors that was making sake were soft and youthful. After much research, it was found that the process of fermentation help promotes youthful skin.

Although this mask might not be from the well known SKII, this mask also has the secret ingredient sake yeast with a fraction of the price.

What is so great about this wine yeast mask?

Besides having sake yeast in it, this wine yeast mask is made out of 100% silk extract. It also uses seawater from Taiwan. Although it does sound much, Taiwan’s seawater contains beneficial minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium. These minerals might not sound that extraordinary but they do a lot for the skin.

According to Dendy Engelman,  a dermatologist, magnesium helps improve the overall appearance of the skin, help reduce acne, stabilize hormonal imbalance, and improve the cellular process. [1]

Although calcium might sound like it is only beneficial for bones, it is good for the skin as well. It has been shown to help with the cell turnover by helping it tell the difference between old and new ones [2].

Lastly, potassium or the lack of potassium could cause acne and dry skin.

Compared to all the benefits it is crazy that it is so inexpensive (~$2 a mask) compared to the SKII mask which is about ~$17-$22 for one.

What I thought about the wine yeast mask

When you open the package you see the mask carefully packaged with two layers of plastic. One side is blue and other side is white. Although I don’t think it really matters, but I like to peel off the white plastic first, then I peel the blue layer after the mask is on my face. Upon opening it, you get a strong pungent smelling sake waffing out of the package.

The fit of the mask is quite decent. I didn’t find any part of the mask too small or too big. However, the holes for the eyes are small. For an Asian, I think I have pretty large eyes and it didn’t bother me but If you have huge eyes, you might encounter some issues. Remember how I mention how the mask was waffing with sake smelling aroma? The smell of the mask will still be very prominent even after 10 minutes. The mask itself has a very strong fragrant, or to be precise strong sake smell. I am not even joking, it is not a light scent, it smells like literally like sake.

I did plan to take a before and after picture but, I had only one mask left and ended up sleeping with the mask on. Waking up, I didn’t notice a major difference in brightening or glowy. However, the times I used it before, I notice a huge brightening effect, I woke up with bright, glowy hydrated skin.

Conclusion

Honestly, I loved this mask. I remember the first time using this mask, it left me waking up with bright glowy skin but my most recent usage left me a little disappointed. How does it compare to the SKII mask? I only haven’t used it in a long time, but I don’t remember it waking up to beautiful, glowy skin. With that being said, it probably wasn’t amazing. I only used it once so take what I said with a grain of salt.
