I haven’t bought anything from The Face Shop for years. The last time I bought something from The Face Shop was probably when I was in high school. I remember hearing good things about The Face Shop’s The Solution mask and when The Face Shop was having a 40% off I happen to grab some mask from the line Solution and Bio-Cell line.
The Face Shop Solution Mask
The solution mask was described as light-as-air face mask that feels soft and weightless on the skin. There are 10 different face sheets, each has a special ingredient for different needs.
The 10 types of mask sheets
Hydrating face mask – contains Hyaluronic Acid helps dry, thirsty skin lock in moisture.
Moisturizing face mask – contains Ceramides to help moisturize dry skin
Brightening Face Mask -contains Pearl powder provides a brightening solution to dull skin
Radiance Face Mask – contains Propolis provides a nourishing solution to exhausted skin
Firming Face Mask – contains Collagen provides a resilience solution to saggy skin
Wrinkle Care Face Mask – contains Peptides provides a wrinkle care solution
Nourishing Face Mask – contains Propolis provides a nourishing solution to exhausted skin
Soothing Face Mask -contains Madecassoside provides a soothing solution to sensitive skin
Pore Care Face Mask – contains Tannins helps reduce shine and provides a pore care solution to oily skin
Smoothing Face Mask – contains Black Willow Bark Extract provides an exfoliating solution to rough skin.
What I thought about the mask
I didn’t buy all of them but I bought a couple to try out. The masks that I bought are the Brightening Face Mask, the Soothing Face Mask, and the Nourishing Face Mask.
I really wasn’t expecting much from this face mask, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sheet mask was thin and the mask was fully covered in serum. The serum has a silky texture, which I quite enjoyed.
The serum was evenly distributed, which I think was mostly because of the type of backing they used for the mask. You can see the little holes on the backing of the mask shown in the picture above.
Overall, I quite like the mask. I think it would be an easy basic mask to use every day but it’s not holy grail status. Don’t be too picky about which mask to get, I didn’t see a big difference between different type of masks.
The Face Shop Bio-Cell Face Mask
The second line of mask I tried out from The Face Shop was from the line Bio-Cell. Unlike the masks from the Solution line, the Bio-Cell mask sheets were made out of a type of bio-cellulose (coconut gel). By using this type of mask, it clings better to the skin which helps deliver the ingredients better.
While there are 10 different types of masks in the solution line, there are only 4 in the Bio-Cell line.

Brightening Face Mask– contains Glutathione to give you a bright, healthy complexion
Recovery Face Mask -contains a Madecassoside serum that effectively soothes irritated skin due to exposure to the elements
Firming Face Mask – contains a Collagen serum that restores elasticity and firmness to give you baby-like skin
Moisturizing Face Mask – contains a hydrating serum containing multi-sized Hyaluronic Acid Particles
What I thought about the mask
I bought the Bio-Cell Moisturizing Face Mask and the Bio-Cell Recovery Face Mask. Unlike the masks from the Solution Line, the masks from the Bio-Cell line are hydrogel masks. At first, I didn’t read the instructions, so I thought the hydrogel mask was attached to the blue part shown in the picture above. However, after looking at the instructions closely, the mask was enveloped between two layers of sheets. I did like the mask, my face felt moisturized yet not sticky.
Conclusion:
If you are buying face masks from The Face Shop and feeling a little bit fancier, I recommend the Face Shop Mask Bio-Cell line might be worth getting. However, I didn’t see a big difference between the two Face Shop mask lines but if you don’t like a tacky feeling after a mask, the hydrogel from the Bio-Cell line mask might be the way to go.
