If your are like me you probably haven’t heard of centella before. Until recently I have never seen any beauty products containing centella. It wasn’t until I discovered my beloved cosrx centella ampule and cosrx centella blemish balm. So what this is magical centella?
What is Centella?
Upon my research centella also called gotu kola is a medicinal plant which is commonly found swampy areas in Asia. Surprisingly it is quite common in Asia, it is used in drinks, it is even fed to toddlers. In China it is even called the miracle elixirs of life due to its extensive benefits. Centella is mainly known for its wound healing abilities, so its no surprise that is effective for acne scar healing.
Is it effective against acne scars?
In short, yes. Countless research papers shows that centella helps with acne scar because it increase the amount of collagen in the area applied. This then helps the new layer of skin form faster.
In my opinion.
The only product that I used that contains centella is from cosrx and after using both the cosrx centella blemish ampule and the cosrx blemish balm I saw a difference in my skin. My skin has become clearer and the the scars are less visible. I would definitely recommend these products to people with acne scars.
If you do end up trying the centella products mentioned, you will smell a faint medical smell. Don’t worry though, it doesn’t linger. I found both of these products quite light weight, none of which blocked my pores.
Give it a try I would definitely give centella a try.
