I heard about A. by BOM super baby doll mask from meejmuse. I remember when she did a review of a bunch of Korean sheet masks and she recommended this mask.

As she mentioned in the video it is a pretty new mask in the market, it launched last year in 2016.

A. by BOM was originally the name of a Korean beauty salon that opened back in 2010. It is located in the heart of Gangnam and they have helped countless of famous celebrities gets their hair and makeup done.

There is a meaning behind the name A. by BOM. I am not entirely sure but I think it means a star is reborn with the help of spring. There is an in-depth meaning on their site, but it is sadly in Korean.

According to their site, this mask creates moist and vibrant skin just like a baby. They use natural ingredients like apple extract, aloe vera, witch hazel, and chamomile.

The mask has a 3 step system:

A1: Eye Serum (1.5ml) – An eye gel serum that helps moisturize under your eyes

A2: Brightening soothing cream (1.5ml)– A moisturizer  that helps brighten your skin

A3: Aqua Mask Pack (25ml) – Mask that has apple extracts to help Whiten and has Anti-wrinkle function

What I thought of it

The eye serum (A1) and soothing cream (A2)are both pretty thick. Make sure you tap the eye serum until fully absorbed into the skin, it took me about at least a full minute to fully pat the product into my skin. The eye serum is somehow the consistency of an oil but not quite an oil. It also has a slight soapy lemon smell. The soothing cream is quite heavy as well, it kind of feel waxy, both leaves the skin a bit sticky and tacky.

The mask is made of cotton, but it’s not the typical cotton mask like you get from my beauty diary mask. It is a little thinner than the usual cotton mask.

What did I think

What kind of baffles me is, why do they make you wear a thick cream before putting on the mask. I always thought that if you put cream, then apply a mask, all the stuff in the mask will not absorb into the skin. The cream will act as a barrier preventing other nutrients to be absorbed into the skin.

Other than that, I thought the mask was alright. If you were hoping for a brightening mask, this might not be the mask for you. I did notice a little brightening but not a lot. However, I found this mask quite moisturizing. My skin looked quite glowy, plumped and hydrated. It does leave a sticky and tacky feeling.

Would I repurchase

Yes, but not for the brightening properties. I would probably use this when my skin is in need of much moisture or it is looking tired and need a quick pick me up. I think it would be perfect when you go traveling, especially when you are on a plane. The mask is quite thin, so it won’t look too obvious or too scary when you’re on the plane. If your skin gets clogged easily, you might want to be cautious of this mask since the oil and the cream are both quite heavy.
