Waking up to a pimple is one of the worst feelings. You would think that as an adult, you won’t get any more pimples. Oh, the lies we used to believe when we were younger. Now that I am a little wiser I know what to do. Pimple Patches! Pimple patches absorb the gunk while preventing scarring and it even prevents you from picking your pimple. After trying so many brands, I just keep coming back to my favorite Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch. Although I have tried many pimple patches, I never did a review. So here is a review/ comparison between different brands.
The four pimple patches that I will be comparing are the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch, Cosrx Clear Fit Master Patch, Wishtrend Clear Skin Shield, and Rael Acne Healing Patch.
What Will I test for to find the best pimple patch:
- How sticky it is/can it easily rub off
- If it sticks to oily Skin
- If it crinkles/ easy to pick up
- If it hides well under makeup
How sticky it is/can it rub off
There are probably times when you put a pimple sticker the night before but wake up with the pimple sticker nowhere to be found. Whether we know it or not, we probably toss and turn a lot when we go to sleep. That’s why I will test if the pimple patch stays put even with intense movement. Although I won’t be wearing it while I go sleep, I will be placing pimple patches on my hand and trying to rub it off.
Results: After testing each brand, surprisingly each pimple patch stayed on pretty well. No matter how much I tried to move it, none of the pimple patches would budge. However, the Corsx Acne Pimple Master Patch was by far the most secure.
If it sticks to oily skin
I never knew that applying the pimple patch before applying your skincare routine can make such a difference. Before making this post, I have always applied the pimple patch after my skincare routine. Even though it is recommended to apply pimple sticker after cleansing your skin, I will still test if it sticks well to oily skin. That way if you forget, or didn’t know as I did, you could find the best pimple patches that suit you.
Results: Compared to bare skin, the pimple patches did not stick as well. On oily skin, 3/4 the pimple sticker tested moved from their initial spot. Only Cosrx acne pimple master patch stayed where it is initially placed.
If you can hide under makeup
I don’t like to wear pimple stickers in public. No matter how hard you try to hide it… it just isn’t invisible. But… sometimes you just can’t help it and need to leave the pimple sticker on. That is why I will be testing to see if the pimple patch is truly invisible with and without makeup.
Results: I didn’t really expect any of them to hide as well as they did. Only Wishtrend’s Clear Shield looked as if it blended into the skin. The second best was Cosrx Clear Fit. While the Rael did not look good with makeup at all. You can see some of the foundation absorbed around the rim of the pimple patch, leaving it screaming for attention. What do you think?
If it crinkles
No matter how hard I try, I always end up crinkling the pimple sticker. Personally, I think a crinkled pimple sticker is quite noticeable, meaning you won`t be able to wear it in public. That’s why it becomes pretty useless unless you are only wearing it at night. So for this test, I will test how easy it is to pick up the sticker without crinkling it.
Results: Sadly, with my terrible skills, I managed to crinkle all of the pimple stickers. However, I noticed that the thinner ones are less obvious when you crinkle it but they are also easier to crinkle. The thicker ones like Cosrx were easier to pick up and crinkled less. However, if you do manage to crinkle the thicker one, the crinkle will be more obvious than the thinner ones.
my thoughts – things to take note of when choosing a pimple patch
Size: Although some pimple patches don’t look small, the pimple patches with rims are smaller than they actually are. Not only does a smaller one absorb less but it is also harder to perfectly place it on a pimple.
Rims: I find that pimple patches with rims, don’t absorb as much gunk. The rim part doesn’t absorb anything, only the middle part does. However, they are less visible and blends more into the skin. Trade off between visibility and absorption.
What do you need: Picking out the perfect pimple patch really depends on what you need. Do you prefer wearing it during the day or at night? A daytime pimple patch will be barely visible under makeup but won’t stay put as well as a nighttime pimple patch. The best daytime pimple patch is the Wishtrend Clear Shield since it blends into the skin. While the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch was the most secure while being able to absorb the most gunk.
Conclusion: What is the best pimple patch?
Honestly, after trying all these pimple patches, my favorite is still my HG Corsx Acne Pimple Master Patch. However, it really depends on what you like and what you need. I found that the thinner ones are less visible but also absorb less, perfect for daytime. While the thicker ones absorb more while sticking very securely perfect for nighttime. I would wear the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch at night and thinner ones like Wishtrend Clear Shield in the morning.
