Drunk Elephant Not Worth it?

Is Drunk Elephant worth it? There was a point in my life when Drunk Elephant was the bomb. It was the brand that everyone had on their wishlist and wanted to buy from. To say the least, their philosophy of the suspicious 6 doesn’t go well with me anymore. Sometimes even if you avoid the “suspicious 6”, your skin won’t suddenly be cured. Nor does it mean the products will be amazing for your skin. In this post, I will explain why, and some Drunk Elephant products are not worth it.

I have written previously on why I won’t be buying from Drunk Elephant anymore. Long story short, their belief that their “superior” skin philosophy is the answer to all your skin problems rubs me the wrong way. Some suspicious 6 are not suspicious at all.
Even if you avoid all the suspicious ingredients your skin might not be magically cured. There are many other reasons besides the “suspicious 6”. One of the main reasons why I don’t particularly like Drunk Elephant is the irritation their products can cause

Many of their products don’t take into account their products can cause irritation. Even if you don’t see the irritation right away, it will show on your skin eventually.

TLC Sukari Baby Facial

Drunk Elephant’s TLC Sukari Baby Facial Exfoliant is a super harsh exfoliant.  I probably won’t use this exfoliant again. My first time using this, my skin just burned. Like Burn. Burn. Ever since then I am a little hesitant about using this exfoliant.

Over exfoliating is never a good thing. When your skin over exfoliated it looks really skinny and raw. You never want super SHINY skin.

Although I can see why the Drunk Elephant exfoliant is loved by some people, there is one product, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

That is the drunk elephant cleansing balm

Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

I honestly think Drunk Elephant jumped on the cleansing balm bandwagon, creating Slaai Butter Cleanser. They thought that if they just avoided the “suspicious six”, their cleansing balm would be the best cleansing balm in the world. Sadly, the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is probably one of the worst cleansing balms I have ever tried.

If you are on the market for a cleansing balm, DO NOT buy this cleansing balm I repeat DO NOT buy this cleansing Balm.

This cleansing balm is equivalent to using olive oil. This cleansing balm does not remove any stubborn makeup. What makes it worst is that the butter cleanser is even harder to wash off. You can not simply just rinse it off with water. It does not emulsify at all. Not even remotely.

To remove the cleansing balm, I had to wash my face use 2 more times with an additional cleanser. If you do not remove the cleansing balm, there is a high chance you will start seeing pimples.

Overall the cleansing blam is a terrible product, and will not recommend this to anyone.

Rather you should try the cult favorite Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm or my current favorite Missha Cleansing Oil.

Conclusion: Drunk Elephant Not Worth it?

There are some good products from Drunk Elephant, but not everything they make will be amazing even if they don’t have the suspicious 6. What are some products from Drunk Elephant Products that are not worth it? The TLC BabyFacial and the Slaai Butter Cleanser. The TLC BabyFaical can be super irritating and can potentially burn your skin. While Slaai Butter Cleanser barely removes any makeup, it is also hard to remove. Instead of just relying on avoiding the suspicious 6, you should listen to your skin. You should be gentle and be patient with it. Some ingredient that helped be a lot is fermented products and calming ingredients like Mugwort and Centella.
