I remember when I first saw this when Bubzbeauty introduced it, probably years ago.  I never bought it, though. Mainly because it was pretty pricey online nor was I able to find it in stores. But I was lucky enough to find it when I was in Japan. Before I bought the real deal I always wondered if there were any dupes or if there were any peeling gels similar to the Cure Natural Aqua Gel. If you ever wondered, I hope this post will help you come a little closer to find the real thing.

What is Cure Natural Aqua Gel?

So you have never heard of Cure Natural Aqua Gel?  The Cure Natural Aqua Gel is Japan’s number 1 exfoliator. So popular that one bottle is sold every 12 seconds. Unlike typical exfoliants, this one isn’t a chemical peel or a physical exfoliant. Instead of peeling the skin it collects the dead skin cells on the surface which will collect into little balls of dead skin. I tried to find how the gel actually works but I couldn’t find much. Although I am not entirely sure about the mechanism, I will test if they have a similar texture and if they pill dead skin in a similar way.

I will be testing 4 peeling gels: pre’CARE, Rosette Peeling Gel (Rosette Gommage ), Face Shop White Jewel Peeling and AHA cleansing research renew bright clear oil cleansing.

The Peeling Gels I Tried

pre’CARE-Water-Gel Exfoliator

The first one I tried was called pre’CARE water-gel exfoliator. Before I found Cure Natural Aqua Gel in Japan I  I happened to find pre’CARE thinking any peeling gel in Japan would be same. Compared to other peeling exfoliators this one is pretty stiff compared to the other ones. When you rub the clear gel it becomes cloudy,  slowly little balls of accumulates. The little balls are white and quite moist. It doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

Rosette Peeling Gel

I  also found this peeling gel in Japan. This peeling gel is one of @cosme ranked product, which is almost Japanese equivalent to Allure Beauty Awards. The rosette peeling gel was the stiffest gel compared to the other 3 peeling gels. Just like the other peeling gels, the balls are soft and white but not as moist as pre’CARE. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue.

Face Shop White Jewel Peeling

Unlike the other ones, this one is white while the others were on the clearer side. Unlike the Cure Natural Aqua Gel, the beads of skin develop immediately. The beads that are formed are large and quite soft.  It is quite gritty but it doesn’t leave any residue on the skin. Weirdly enough there is sound glitter in this product.

AHA Cleansing Research Renew Bright clear oil cleansing

Compared to the others, this one is by far the most different. Mostly because it is a cleansing gel. Unlike the other ones, it has an apple scent and is quite oily. With its oiliness, you get more of a slip to massage your face. With that being said you must rinse your face off. You will not see any collection of dead skin cells but you will feel little balls while you massage your face.

So how does the original peeling gel look like?

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

Compared to the other peeling gels it is very watery, almost so that it runs off your hand. It doesn’t get cloudy when you rub the gel. Although, at first it seems like no balls of skin are forming but eventually, you get little balls of dead skin similar to bits of eraser bits after a long day of work.

Conclusion

Honestly. After trying so many peeling gels, none of them were identical to the Cure Natural Aqua Gel. BUT if I had to pick which one was the most similar, I would have to say the Rosette Peeling Gel. They are a little different. First, the Rosette Peeling gel is much thicker compared to the Cure one. The balls of dead skin dead also look a little different, the Cure Natural Aqua Gel was drier compared to the Rosette one.

Do I think they give the same result?

I wish I could give a definite answer, but honestly, I don’t know. They both make balls of dead skin cells, but I don’t know if it got all the dead skin off. However, I did notice that if I kept on using the Cure gel, the balls of dead skin were smaller while the Rosette was relatively the same.
