I don’t have a big collection of foundations, but lately, I have been itching to clear out some of my makeup especially those that I don’t reach for. I know I won’t reach for that particular foundation, but yet you still keep it…just in case? So why not toss it out and give yourself a piece of mind?
I read The life-changing magic of tidying up, and I realized how liberating it feels when you clear out the stuff you don’t need and keep the stuff you love. I have already tossed out some foundations that weren’t the correct shade or were just too old. Here is what is left of my foundation collection:
LANCÔME Teint Idole Ultra Longwear Cushion Foundation SPF 50 in 250 (W)
KEEP: I haven’t reached for this cushion foundation for a long time. I may have gotten the wrong shade, which was probably why I didn’t like it as much. I remember not liking this foundation. BUT after trying out this foundation again for this post, it doesn’t look so bad at all. I remember it being cakey-looking but it was quite natural and dewy looking without looking too oily or matte.
Pro
- High coverage
- SPF 50
- Evens out skin tone
- Natural dewy skin
Cons
- High Coverage
- Not long Lasting
- Expensive C$56
- No re-fill
MISSHA Signature Essence Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ No.21
TOSS: This cushion is a good foundation if you have perfect skin with no imperfections. It gives little to no coverage, but it does give your skin the dewy glowy that Koreans like. After retrying this foundation, I don’t think I will keep this foundation. I have freckles, and when I used it, it accentuates them in a bad way.
Pros
- Makes your skin look super glowy
- SPF 50
Cons
- Little to no Coverage – perfect if you have perfect skin
- Limited color range
- Sits on top of the skin
- May be patchy looking if not blended carefully into the skin
- No refill
.
A’pieu Air FIT Makeup Foundation Compact Cushion Spf50 No.23
TOSS: I never reached for this foundation mainly because it has a pink undertone. Since the undertones didn’t match, it was very obvious I was wearing foundation. I am tossing this cushion.
Pros
- SPF 50
- Have medium-high coverage
- Really like the face puff that comes with it
- Affordable
Cons
- Limited color range
- Runs on the pink side
- Mask-like foundation
Revlon Colorstay 2 in 1 Compact
TOSS: The original Revlon Colorstay foundation is a cult favorite, that was why I decided to pick up this foundation. Although the original Revlon Colorstay was great…This foundation wasn’t the same. It sat on top of the skin and would move around on the face. A total toss.
Pros
- Comes with a concealer
Cons
- Slips and slides, foundation moves around a lot
- Foundation doesn’t absorb into the skin, sits on top of the skin
- Could look cakey if you are not careful
moonshot micro fit cushion foundation in 301
KEEP: Before going to Korea, I always thought Moonshot was a popular brand among Koreans. I imagine the store was always packed with Koreans and tourist. BUT every time I passed a Moonshot shop, it was empty. The only time I saw people in the store was when a foreign tourist buying their makeup. That made me doubt the quality of the cushion foundation. To my relief, the cushion was amazing. It has coverage but the finish was still skin like and dewy. A total keeper.
Pro
- Natural, and dewy finish
- Matches my skin tone well
- Looks like skin
- SPF 50
Cons
- Doesn’t come with a refill
bourjois healthy mix foundation in N52 Vanilla
KEEP: This is a nice simple foundation, that just makes your skin healthy and bright. The foundation still looks like skin even with medium coverage. Great foundation when your skin looks a little dull.
Pro
- Medium Coverage
- Brighten up look
- Healthy skin-like
it cosmetics cc+ Illumination Full Coverage cream in Medium
KEEP: This foundation is very high coverage, I don’t even use the full pump. It gives your skin the dewy healthy look which I love. There are micro sparkles but I barely ever notice it them unless you look super closely. I sometimes like to mix it with a foundation to decrease the coverage of the foundation.
Pros
- High coverage
- Brighten the skin
- SPF 50
Cons
- Have Glitter
Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 foundation + concealer in Creamy Vanilla
KEEP: This foundation is super high coverage, probably a good foundation when you have a big event or haven’t slept. It feels lightweight and is long wearing. A total Keeper.
Pro
- Full coverage
- Long wearing
- Lightweight
- Affordable
The Ordinary Serum Foundation in 1.2YG
KEEP: This is a simple foundation, it does the job. It evens out your face at an affordable price. It doesn’t have the best wearing time… maybe 5 hours? One thing that bothers me is the pump. I hate the pump. I think some of the foundation dried up, making the pump terrible. It wouldn’t spray straight, it would sometimes spray on my shirt and carpet. The main reason why I am keeping this foundation is that I like to dilute the It cosmetics cc cream with this, for days when I don’t need a lot of coverage.
Pros
- Simple foundation
- Affordable price
Cons
- Terrible Pump
Conclusion
Tossing out 3 foundations out of the 9 foundations isn’t that bad but I am glad I can finally toss out the foundations that I don’t reach for. What are some of your favorite foundations?
