I have always dreamed about trying out the luxury brand Bobbi Brown, especially the Bobbi Brown Skincare. I remember getting a sample of Bobbi brown eye cream and fell over heels for it. Usually, no matter how much oil or moisturizer I slab under my eyes, my under eye area would always look like the desert with foundation on. However, after trying this out my undereye area remained smooth and supple. But the thing is, it’s expensive. For a little jar of eye cream that’s 15ml it is $70! I really want to try other Bobbi browns items but if their eye cream is already $70 I can not imagine their other items. Luckily enough I stumbled upon a set of Bobbi Brown Skincare that includes their eye cream.
What the Bobbi Brown Skincare kit comes with
The set is called Bobbi to The Rescue, Detox & Hydrate Set
It comes with 6 items:
Hydrating Face Tonic (1FL oz/ 30ml), Hydrating Face Cream (1fl oz/30ml), Hydrating Eye Cream (.24 fl oz/ 7ml), Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover (1fl oz/30ml), Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser (0.5fl oz/ 15ml), and Instant Detox Sea Water & White Clay Mask (2.5 fl oz/75ml).
Is Bobbi Brown skincare really worth the high price tag? Are all the items in this set better than items you would find in the drugstore?
What I thought about the Bobbi Brown Skincare
Hydrating Face Tonic
This bottle of liquid looks and feels like water. This magic water somehow makes your skin glowy and hydrated after using it. Although it doesn’t look much, I would try it out if you are looking an extra step to hydrate your skin.
Hydrating Face Cream
I don’t want to admit it but I quite like this moisturizer. I usually don’t like moisturizers since they clog my pores when using them. This moisturizer is very light and after using it my skin looks glowy, healthy and most importantly, it doesn’t clog my pores. It does have a slight smell though. If I had to describe the smell…I would say it smells like a slight eucalyptus smell, but fresher and lighter? If you don’t mind a slightly earthy smelling moisturizer, this is definitely a must try.
Hydrating Eye Cream
As I mentioned before, this eye cream is just pure gold. It is wonderful if your under eye area looks dry when you wear foundation like me. The eye cream will work its magic somehow and make your skin hydrated and supple.
Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover
This was an alright makeup remover, but is it better than the makeup removers in the drugstore? Definitely not, you could find a way better makeup remover cheaper or even better at the drugstore. It does remove waterproof mascara, but it leaves an oily residue. This residue is quite hard to remove as well. For some reason, it doesn’t emulsify when the makeup remover comes in contact with water. You might need to rinse your face a full minute before the residue disappears, it might be a better idea to use a cleanser after using the makeup remover.
Hydrating Rich Cream Cleanser
If I had to skip one item from the set I would probably skip this one. On the website, it says it removes all traces of makeup but after trying it out, it wouldn’t recommend it if you are trying to remove tough makeup like waterproof mascara. I tried rubbing my eyes 20 seconds but my mascara didn’t budge at all. Even if the cleanser did remove the waterproof mascara, I wouldn’t risk of getting more fine lines with all that rubbing. The cleanser itself is a creamy white cleanser with a fresh light scent. It doesn’t leave your skin all stripped, but it also won’t leave your skin feeling refreshed. It kind of feels as if you used a moisturizer to remove your makeup, it leaves your skin hydrated and soft but you can kind of feel something is on your skin. I wouldn’t say it is a residue, just more hydrated? It might be good for people looking for a gentle cleanser for dry skin.
Instant Detox Sea Water & White Clay Mask
I saw some review raving about this clay mask, but honestly, I don’t see any difference compared to other clay masks. It has a thinner texture compared to some clay mask, but it isn’t runny either. The mask have does have a slight tingly feeling but nothing to worry about. I didn’t see a major difference in my pore size, but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry like some clay mask.
Conclusion
So is Bobbi Brown skincare worth the price tag? Some items are definitely worth the price, while some items aren’t any better than drugstore products. I would recommend the eye cream and facial moisturizer. The eye cream is wonderful for people who have a dry undereye area. The facial moisturizer is just as wonderful, it leaves your skin hydrated and glowy. If you have wanted to splurge on skin care and want to try out Bobbi Brown skincare, I would definitely try out the eye cream and the facial moisturizer.
