May Coop Raw Sauce Review

My adventure into the Korean beauty world all started with bb creams. Back then, you would be lucky to find a place that carried bb cream. Fast forward 7-8 years and they are almost sold in every beauty store and counter you could imagine. It’s no surprise that we started to incorporate Korean skin care into our daily routine. Koreans are well known for their clear fair beautiful skin. It is no easy task though. They go through great lengths to achieve “Korean” skin. They use countless of items like toners, ampoule, refresher, serum, and essence, each with their own purpose.

Since Koreans are known for having clear healthy skin, it is no surprise that Sephora recently started selling Korean skincare.

One particular product has received major hype and it is the May Coop Raw Sauce. Apparently, it’s one of Korea’s “it” item right now. This one product acts as a toner, essence, and lotion. But what is exactly is a toner, essence and lotion?

What is the difference between a toner, essence, and lotion?

Toner: Is  generally applied after cleansing the face. Most balance the pH of the skin. It is important to have balanced skin because if the balnace of pH is not achieved, your skin could look unhealthy. For example if the skin is too acidic the skin will itch and if the skin is too basic it could cause irritation which could cause acne.  Not only does it balance the pH of the skin but it it preps the face to absorb other products faster. It could also adds additional benefits to the skin.

Essence: Is not quite a serum and not quite like a toner. It has beneficial ingredients but it is not concentrated as a serum. Although it is the same texture as a toner and it is not as astringent as a toner. It also provides additional moisture to the skin.

Lotion: Don’t confuse this with a Japanese lotion, which is watery in texture and used as a toner. A Korean lotion on the other hand, is a lightweight moisturizer.

So basically this all in one product supposedly prep the skin, provide beneficial ingredients and moisturize the skin.

What is so special about May Coop Raw Sauce?

So what is this miracle ingredient? Acer mono Sap

According to an article, Acer mono Sap is from a maple plant only found in the mountains in Korea. It is given the nickname “bone lifting water” because of the various minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium found in the sap. It also is found to help whiten the skin and provide anti-aging effects.

What does Map Coop Raw Sauce claim to do?
  • The Maple tree sap particles are almost the exact same size as our bodily fluids (even smaller than water) and enable the formula to easily absorb deep into the skin
  • Hydrates and delivers nourishment to skin
  • Creates a  glow from within

The May Coop Raw Sauce comes in a glass bottle with a  wooden cap, giving a “natural ” look. Although it doesn’t have a pump, it isn’t messy at all. Since it is slightly thicker than water,  it isn’t as runny and only a few drops can be dispensed at a time. It does have a slight yellow tint, but it doesn’t make your skin look yellow.

Thoughts?

I tried using this additional to my skincare routine and compared it to how it differs when just using on its own.

When I added it to my current skincare I didn’t see any difference than when I just using only my current skincare routine.

When I used the Map Coop Raw Sauce on its own, I found my skin a bit tight and I had to add additional moisturizer.   It claimed to give glowy skin but honestly, I didn’t see much of a glow. Maybe I saw a slight glow when I applied it, but you won’t wake up to glowy skin. However, there is one good point to this product. Before I added this to my skincare I had a dry patch that just didn’t go away. However, after incorporating it into my skincare, the dry patch disappeared. As for the whitening, and anti-aging effects I did not see any noticeable effect.

Would I buy it again?

I wouldn’t buy this product to attain glowy skin, or brightening or anti-aging effects. But if you have dry skin or dry patch that you can’t seem to get rid of, this would be a good product to try out.

Sincerely,

Michelle
