Mask review: Garnier Moisture Bomb Mask

There aren’t many sheet masks found in western drugstores, so I was surprised when I found out Garnier came out with one. I haven’t tried much from Garnier, except for their micellar water {which I love, read my review here}.  With so many face mask in the market will this mask, Garnier Moisture Bomb have the same quality as Asian sheet masks?

It might not be strange to you that there aren’t many face sheets in western drugstores but if you have been to Asia you probably know what I mean. In Asia, there is an entire section dedicated just for sheet masks. While in North America, you would be lucky to find more than 3 brands.

According to their site, there are currently 6 types of masks made from Garnier. So far I have only seen 3 in Canada:  Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Mask Soothing, Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Mattifying, and the normal Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating. I haven’t seen the Anti-fatigue, Glow Enhancing or the Charcoal Mask in store yet.

The mask claims to deliver 24 hours long-lasting hydration while preventing moisture loss at the same time. It also claims that one sheet mask equals to half a bottle of hydrating serum.

How the Garnier Moisture Bomb looks like

Like most masks, the Garnier Moisture Bomb is an ordinary cotton sheet mask. It had the perfect amount of essence, not too much that it becomes drippy but not too little that it was dry. It also uses a blue “cloth” type backing, which is a bit unusual for western sheet masks.

What I thought of Garnier Moisture Bomb

The Garnier Moisture Bomb was thin and quite stretchable. The shape was a little too big for my face, both too long, and too wide. I guess this might be because of the variation in face sizes in western countries. I think I have a pretty big face for an Asian, so it is kind of weird that the mask was bigger than my face. The edges of the mask touched my hair and the mouth part was too low on my face as well.

My face felt quite hydrated after using the mask. It was a little tacky after using the mask, but after waiting about 30min it eventually absorbs into the skin, leaving my skin feeling nice and soft.

Is it the same as Asian masks?

The Garnier Moisture Bomb mask didn’t fit as well as Asian masks but my face did felt hydrated just like Asian sheet masks. I probably will buy again, if I have dry skin but I won’t be running out to get it.

Rate: 3.7

Bonus: Garnier Moisture Bomb from Western countries vs Asain countries

Although I wasn’t able to find the other masks in Canada, I was able to find the Sakura sheet mask when I was in Singapore. It is not under the same name though. In Singapore, it is called Sakura White Serum Mask White while in North America it is called Garnier Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Sheet Mask for Glow-Boosting.

It is strange, but the one that I got from Singapore had a better fit compared to the one I bought from Canada. Overall the Singapore mask was a lot smaller, the mask fits perfectly, nothing too long or too wide. It was also a lot less stretched out too.

The glow-boosting one did give a bit of a glow, but it was short-lived. My face looked a bit brighter and glowier right after using it, but after 30 minutes my face was not as bright anymore. However, it still has this glowy kind of sheen which I quite liked.  My face felt hydrated but not as hydrated as the blue mask.

Conclusion

I quite liked the Garnier Moisture Bomb masks, and would probably buy these mask again. I think if you have a smaller face it is probably better to pick one up from Asia, where you might get a better fit. Overall I was quite satisfied with these two masks, both gave my face ample hydration. If you are looking for a truly brightening mask, these masks aren’t for you.
