Pudding Hair Dye
I was on the search for a new ash coloured hair dye and I encountered Ezn Shaking Pudding in Ash Khaki at my local Asian supermarket.

Ezn Shaking Pudding is a hair dye from Korea and it’s made by the brand Holika Holika. They have a wide range of vibrant colours ranging from the traditional chocolate brown to trendy colour like ash pink. You may think with such vibrant colours, it must be very damaging but the main ingredients are camellia oil, olive oil, avocado oil, chamomile, aloe vera extract, sage extract and the best part, they are ammonia free!

To tell you the truth, I was quite hesitant to try this hair dye. The package was a little sketchy compared to other Asian brands. It also did not help when I never heard anything about this hair dye before. However, I gave it a chance anyways, mostly because I tend to lean towards Asian hair dyes since they are designed for Asian hair.

My local supermarket did not carry all the colours though,  it did carry most of the hair dyes in top row in the picture above. I have tried other ash coloured hair dye like Palty Jelly Hair colour in Sweet Kiwi and Liese Bubble Hair Colour in Elegant Ash. Compared to those hair dye, the Shaking Pudding hair dye was the least damaging. My hair tend to feel like hay after dyeing it. Sometimes it almost feels like a dead animal on my shoulder! However when I used this hair dye it wasn’t as damaged, but it did feel a little drier than normal. Compared to the other hair dyes, I found that it gave the ashest coloured hair, but at the same time it was the greenest. Beware though, it is one of the most messiest hair dye I tried, since it is a pudding texture and I had to scoop it out of the mixing container a lot of the mixture slipped out of my hand making quite a mess.

When you open the two the box, you will get two parts, one with the colourant, developer and a mixing container. The other part with latex gloves, ear caps, plastic cape and Ezn angel ring hair treatment. pudding stuffI found that the plastic cape and ear caps were not essential, and you should skip entirely. Instead of using the ear caps I think applying vaseline is more convenient. The ear cap were a little itchy but the thing that was that bothered me, was that every time I try to colour my hair around my ears, it would fall off. As for the plastic cape, make sure you still wear an old t-shirt underneath! The cape has a wide gap for your neck, so it is possible for dye to drip onto your shirt if you aren’t careful. Even if you successfully managed to not get hair dye on your shirt, you have to carefully pull off your cape after your are done dying it, so it is a bit pointless.

beforedye

I had two inches of root, and about 8 inches of previously dyed hair. I would say my dyed hair was a slightly dark brown. My hair is a thick and course with a slight wave. If you have the same amount of hair like me, you might need two boxes of hair dye. When I finished the first box I managed to apply it to most of my hair, but the last bits of hair did not have a lot of product. I would recommend getting two boxes, just in case. I think being more prepared is always better, than running to the store with partially dyed hair.

afterdye As you can see the hair had a slight green tint to it but dark enough to be natural. I saw some reviews and some of their hair had a blue tinge in them but I think it only occurs if your have light coloured hair. I did notice a difference in the colour of my roots and my dyed hair though. My roots are more of a brown hair than ash green compared to my ends. So if you have virgin hair you might need to dye for longer than the recommended time of 40mintues.
Do I recommend this hair dye?
Yes! I  liked how the hair colour turned out, it was even, ashy. Although it is a little messier than other hair dyes, the colour is definitely worth the hassle. If you are looking for a new hair dye, try the Shaking pudding hair dye, don’t be deterred by the sketchy packaging!

Tips

Try applying L’oreal Elvive Extraordinary oil and/or  oil in cream {my favourite hair product } in your hair, it definitely made my hair feel less damaged.

Sincerely

Michelle
